BAUCHI, Nigeria – The Gwallaga community in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Saturday organised a special prayer session for one of their own and the immediate past Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Sadiqque Abubakar, for a successful life after his retirement.
The prayer session, held at the Madrasatul Irshadul Aulad, had in attendance top Islamic scholars in the state as well as residents.
While speaking before the commencement of the prayers session, the head of Gwallaga community, Alhaji Dandada Ahmadu, said Former CAS, Abubakar brought tremendous development to the community and Bauchi State before his retirement.
According to him, apart from the fact that many indigenes of the state were recruited into the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), Abubakar also facilitated the establishment of an Air Force base, Air Force Reference Hospital and school in the state.
Speaking with journalists after the session, the Imam of Kobi Juma’at Mosque, Malam Muhammadu Aminu, who led the prayers, informed that the community decided to organise the session with a view to seeking Allah’s blessings for the former CAS in his future endeavours.
Malam Aminu said Abubakar was a proud son of the community who had contributed immensely not only to the community but also Nigeria, particularly in terms of peacebuilding.
He highlighted, among others, the immediate past CAS’s contributions to the fight against insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West and insecurity generally in the country.
According to him, the Gwallaga community had nothing to reward Abubakar other than to pray for him continuously.
