NIGER, Nigeria – The Niger State House of Assembly has called on the Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, in the state to fully cooperate with the various Standing Committees of the House, to ensure speedy consideration and early completion of the screening exercise of their organizations.
The House said the quick completion of the exercise will enable the Executive begin the early implementation of the provisions of the 2021 budget.
The Speaker of the House, Barr. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, stated this at the screening of the House Committee on Religious Affairs when officials of the State Hajj Commission led by its Executive Secretary, Alh. Umar Maku Lapai and other relevant Agencies appeared before the Committee to defend their Budget Estimate, at the State House of Assembly Complex in Minna.
On the issue of Internally Generated Revenue, (IGR) for the state Hajj Commission, Wuse said, ‘the officials should study the law establishing the Commission and see if such provisions are part of the law, to restore such request, which was suspended by the former Legislature’
He further advised the Commission officials to improve on their services to the state pilgrims, especially in the areas of accommodation in Saudi Arabia.
Aside from that, the speaker stated that the Sanitary Conditions in Muna, Saudi Arabia and other logistics requirements should be adhered to in order to achieve all-round success throughout the Hajj exercise.
Also, speaking, the House Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Hon. Mohammed Bashir Lokogoma (Wushishi), told the heads of MDAs and the various Standing Committees Chairmen, that the Committee on appropriation will do the needful to collaborate with other Arms of the State government to consolidate on the rapid socio-economic development of the State.
He added that early consideration and passage will be of topmost priority, to enable the Executive commence early operations of the 2021 estimate.
So far, a total of 17 MDAs in the state have an interface with the various House Standing Committees to defend their 2021 Budgetary Allocations Estimate.
