Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, had on Sunday announced that SARS has been scrapped but Nigerians want the government to show actual evidence of scrapping.

Reacting, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ntufam Mba Ukweni regretted the action of the Nigeria Police saying that the corrupt and criminally-minded persons in the Police Force cannot be reformed by the change of guard.

Ukweni said the dissolution of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) by Inspector General of Police (IGP) was not the solution, “Government should think of a more reasonable and enduring solution to the problem in the Nigeria Police Force and the society at large.

“It only helps them to change their strategy and evolve a new way of continuing with their entrenched habits. What is needed in the Police and the society at large is total reformation and change of character” he suggested.
