Deputy minister of Agriculture visits Thabo Mofutsanayana

SOUTH AFRICA – Thabo Mofutsanyana district’s municipality in the Eastern Free State is one of the areas where most of its people depend on agricultural products. Farming is taken seriously since the soil is fertile for making good foods and animals are also responding positively.

Yesterday, the deputy minister of Agriculture Sdumo Dlamini attended the inaugural district model forum in this district’s municipality.

Dlamini says the purpose of his visit was to deliberate on the service delivery challenges and economic growth opportunities in the district. He indicated that the clause found in the freedom chapter “People shall govern” is not yet realized and this district development model seeks to ensure that this dream is realized.

William Bulwane, the MEC for Agriculture in the province explained that the emerging integrated district model approach will improve coherence and planning service delivery, economic growth, and job creation.

He further indicated that a more efficient government is a priority in realizing the 2030 vision as drafted in the National Development Plan (NDP) towards a developmental state.

“A capable state that is playing both developmental and transformative roles to address the triple challenges in South Africa are faced with, ” says Bulwane.

One of the farmers Mente Mazibuko (54)  thanked the visit paid by the deputy minister. He says they are encountering the challenges on daily basis and some of them are difficult to be solved on their own.

Mazibuko has confidence that after this visit, the killings of farmers will also be a story of yesterday.
