Man City vs Liverpool: Roy Keane criticises one Reds player after 4-0 defeat

Roy Keane

ENGLAND – Former Manchester United star, Roy Keane, has singled out Liverpool defender, Joe Gomez for criticism following the Reds’ Premier League 4-0 defeat against Manchester City on Thursday night.

Gomez gave away a penalty for Man City’s opener, pulling down Raheem Sterling in the box and Kevin De Bruyne slotted past Alisson from the penalty spot.

Pep Guardiola’s side later scored three goals through Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (OG) at the Etihad Stadium.

But Keane believes Gomez “deserved to be punished” for being clumsy.

“Yeah, I think Gomez just deserves to be punished for being so clumsy,” Keane said as quoted by Express UK.

“I am just trying to see where the actual foul is but just for being so clumsy sometimes you deserve to be punished for that.”

He added: “Well I’ll be honest Liverpool pressed the game really well the first 20 minutes or so but every time City got through the lines they looked dangerous.

“They got bodies in the box and young [Phil] Foden here, again excellent ball and the first touch makes it for Sterling.

“It’s been a tough first half for Gomez, but Liverpool are not quite at it.”
