UNITED STATES – Barely twenty-four hours after United States President Donald Trump openly called out Twitter, he has threatened to close down social media platforms.
On Tuesday, Twitter did a fact-check on Trump’s tweets, the first time ever.
It put a level under two of the president’s tweets, which claimed that mail-in voter ballots are subject to extreme fraud.
Responding, Trump pointedly accused Twitter of interference.
“I, as President, will not allow it to happen!”, he vowed.
On Wednesday, the American leader went on a rant.
He tweeted: “Twitter has now shown that everything we have been saying about them (and their other compatriots) is correct. Big action to follow!”
The president said the Republicans feel that social media platforms totally silence conservative voices.
“We will strongly regulate, or close them down before we can ever allow this to happen. We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016. We can’t let a more sophisticated version of that happen again”, Trump said.
The U.S. presidential poll is scheduled to hold in November.
