KADUNA, Nigeria – A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kaduna on Thursday remanded a 55-year-old man, identified as Dayyabu Dankaka, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old.
The Magistrate, Mrs Hajara Dauda, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered that he be kept in prison pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Dauda adjourned the case until Dec. 2 for mention.
The defendant, a resident of Paki Village in Ikara LGA of Kaduna State, was charged on a count of rape.
NAN reports that earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Baba, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 4 at Paki Village.
Baba alleged that the defendant lured the 13-year-old girl into his room and defiled her by having sexual intercourse with her, in contravention of Section 258 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
He said that the victim’s parents reported the case at the Ikara Police Station.
