LIMPOPO, Tzaneen, South Africa – DOLLY Maila (20) broke up with her taximan boyfriend last month as she was tired of being threatened by his wife.
But little did the grade 11 pupil know the wife wanted to teach her a lesson.
Dolly said her ex’s wife and her two friends blocked her outside Bokgakga High School in Shilobane Village, outside Tzaneen in Limpopo, on Thursday.
They accused her of wrecking the marriage and dragged her by her braids and one beat her with a pipe.
“I tried to explain that I’m no longer with him, but they kept beating me,” said Dolly.
A video of the incident was shared on social media, where the wife can be heard saying: “Nthapeleng is my husband. I’m not going to allow a girl your age to wreck my marriage. I’m not going to leave my husband for you.”
Dolly was disappointed the police only helped her after the video was shared on social media.
“I was helped at the police station on Thursday and asked to come back the next day as there were no police vans.
“I was shocked when a captain told me where to get off on Friday, saying I’m a marriage wrecker,” said Dolly.
Her mum Rose Mongwe (47) told Daily Sun she wanted action to be taken against the women.
“I’m very saddened by this whole incident,” she said.
Limpopo Education MEC Polly Boshielo said the department would follow the matter up as it happened on school premises.
“This is unacceptable,” said the MEC.
Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said a case was opened but no one had been arrested.
