TSHWANE, South Africa – 59 years old Kind-hearted and caring Joyce Maboe cares for 90 needy kids.
The brave woman decided to take good care and look after suffering kids
without parents in poverty stricken squatter camp in Kameeldrift near
Tshwane as if they were her own.
Her love for children has blossomed into Roodeplat Orphans and vulnerable children care centre.
The centre operates under small garage room to take good care, race and feed 90 poverty stricken kids without parents.
OgeneAfrican learnt that she opened the care centre when she realised that many children without parents were being left alone in their shack without anyone to take good care of them.
About 5000 household parents are staying in shacks without running tap water and electricity at Kameeldrift squatter camp known as plot 175 situated in the East side of (Pretoria) Tshwane. Most parents are unemployed and rely on child support grant and food parcels to survive. Meanwhile some of them are working in retail shops and others as seasonal farm workers.
Maboe‘s dream is to see the centre expand in future.
Joyce uses money from her own pocket and depends on donations to buy
food for the destitute children.
“But the money from my pocket is not enough to cater for kids. I need donors to help me. I am taking pension grand money from my own pocket to buy food for the starving kids and sometimes sharing my house grocery with them,” Maboe said.
She‘s a mum to many. Since the centre was born in 2009 and survived under difficult financial constrains but Maboe never looked back. She
